Teperto: (Hungarian fried pork fat pieces) 2 LBS pork fat (available at ShopRite grocery stores) 6 Qt pot salt Rye Bread Using a sharp knife or scissors, cut the pork fat into small pieces. Place the pork fat pieces into a pot and cook on a stove at medium heat. A half-cup of lard or grease from previously cooked Teperto can be added, but otherwise the pork fat will cook okay in its own grease. Stir the pork fat occasionally as it cooks for about 2 hours. Cook the pork fat until it starts to darken and turn brown. Consider cooking the Teperto a bit longer if it contains a lot of meat, that way the meat will be crispy and tasty instead of tough. Remove the Teperto from the pot and salt to taste. Save the liquid grease for future Teperto or other fried foods. It's very tasty. Teperto can be eaten hot or cold as a snack or meal and it's good with rye bread.
